Houston, sophmore year and San Diego, senior year (pg 83-97)
This chapter in the story explains how Steve resents his father for being as accomplished as he is. Steve plans his day according to the times his father will be home just so that he doesn't have to see him. His father, which Steve refers to him as the astronaut, doesn't make an effort to start a conversation with him either. Their relationship is very strained and I believe Steve's parents divorce and his father not being the best father figure has an effect on his school life and his decision. In San Diego, Steve gets his mother to agree to let Sarah go to the concert. Then back aat Houston, Steve and Dub go to the dance and in the beginning he wasn't all about dancing. Toward the end he slow danced with Dub and couldn't believed how much he loved to hold Dub and feel his hands on her back. After this dance they become very close and go back to their table holding hands and really enjoying eachothers company. I think this is forshadowing in the story that Dub and Steve are going to have a very strong and long relationship.
